In general, the cost of interpreting services depends on seven factors:
- The number of interpreters required
- The language combinations required
- The complexity of the subject matter
- The duration of the interpreting service
- The type of sound equipment required
- The location of the interpreting service
- The date(s) of the interpreting service
The number of interpreters required.
The number of interpreters is an especially important factor in relation to
simultaneous interpreting projects. During this type of service, interpreters alternate frequently whilst interpreting for periods of approximately 15-30 minutes each (depending on the complexity of the subject matter). For one complete day of simultaneous interpreting, it is necessary to count upon the presence of at least two interpreters for each language combination.
