The best way to learn a language is, undoubtedly, to live in a country in which it is spoken. It is very important to have studied the
language in some depth in order to learn more quickly once there.
Is language learning possible without living in a foreign country?
It is not indispensable, although students who do so clearly save both time and effort. However, if living in another country is not an option, there are sufficient resources available in your own country to follow a
language course without leaving home. There are websites about your hobbies and interests in other
languages and on-line chats through which you can practice your
language skills with mother-tongue speakers. Books, magazines and newspapers in other
languages are also readily available. There are also cultural associations, restaurants, bars etc., that
organize language learning activities that allow you to converse in other
languages.
